Fusilier Favorites: Central Florida Summer Water Activities

Wekiva Island

Beat the heat this summer in this water-lover's paradise with something for everyone. Adventurers can test their skills by canoeing, kayaking or paddle boarding down the picturesque river. For those who'd like to skip the "work," lounge in a cabana and sip on a craft beer or a glass of wine from their indoor/outdoor bar. After you've finished relaxing, catch a game of beach volleyball, throw a fishing line or take a dip in the perfect 72 degree water. Visit on a "Wekiva Wednesday" and partake in signature events like Wine & Paint, Brew Review, or Wine Down Wednesday.

Lake Conway Sandbar

Although it's well-known to Conway residents, this weekly lake party is somewhat of a secret to the rest of Central Florida. Each weekend hundreds of boats gather on the sandbar to eat, drink and "waste" the day away basking in the Florida sun. Someone always supplies the music and there's no shortage of good times. Get away from the crowd for a bit and wake board, wake skate or tube on the Conway Chain. Don't have a boat to get there? Paddle board, canoe, float or even swim out!

Check out the sandbar on Lake Conway every weekend.

This one's for the thrill-seekers. Catch a wave behind a brand new Nautique boat and earn your wakeboarding skills or fine tune your water skiing technique. The complex offer classes from beginner to advanced with a staff full of experienced pros. Not quite ready for the extreme water sports? Take a paddleboarding class or chill out on their deck space or beach area. Browse their pro shop and test out a board set up before you buy. They even offer a summer camp for kids ages 7-15 from June 5 - August 11.
